felt / table setting collection

the guest/future member of the family

The set is intended for a guest or a possible, yet unknown member of the family. To achieve the non-personalised, non defined, default feel, I used another material, industrial felt cut into thin strips, plus incorporating both felt and wire used in all the others, as a second layer. Leaving the ends of wire exposed on the surface, it represents the infinite nature of the person it's intended for.
The set made for a child, combining both previous materials representing mother and father, uses knitted shapes of a plate and cutlery out of wire, then encased in the felted background. It has an educative function, emphasizing the places where the child is supposed to put the cutlery.

setting for the father

The piece is hand knit into a 3D shape from a thin copper wire, with a silver surface. It’s supposed to represent the father figure, the masculine, cold, more sharp and strict principle.
setting for the mother

It represents the mother figure, by using the warm and soft wool roving as a symbol of the maternal love, care.
