BEAUTIFUL GHOSTS (May 2015, Hong Kong)

Beautiful Ghosts

Inspired by the bleak, powerful and raw poetry of Xu Lizhi**, a young anonymous Chinese assembly line worker in an electronics super factory, who took his life in late 2014. His frustrated words off a silently potent voice to an overworked, underpaid generation of young factory workers who were sadly compelled to take their own lives.

Set before a stark and unsurmountable concrete wall, Beautiful Ghosts is a story about hope, about change and about the power of unity - using gritty athletic choreography combined with elements of contact, circus and text work.

**English translations of Xu Lizhi´s poetry were sourced from the www.libcom.org blog. Many thanks to Nao for posting the translations, highlighting Xu Lizhi´s story, which ultimately inspired this work.
