Nairobi Olympics 2024

Logo Concept & Inspiration
Kenya is a nation with a diverse mix of traditions and cultures.
Kenya’s main culture is the Masaai culture.
The Masaai people are a perfect example for understanding the special connection between humans and nature and that’s why they refuse till the day to live the new modernized life style.
I used this connection between the people and the wild life to come up with my logo. The shape of the logo was inspired from the horns of cattle, the repetition was taken from the Masaai’s traditional necklaces and the patterns and colors were also inspired from their culture.
In my design, I wanted the logo to reflect not only the characterisics of the city, but also the Olympic games it self and I did that by giving it a dynamic feel. I also focused on creating a futuristic kind of design since the games will take place in 2024.

The pictograms design was inspired from the Kenyan Masaai art. Art in Kenya is derived from rock patterns, but also heavily influenced from Swahili and Arab culture. Figures in their art are usually tall stick figures.
