Brief:

Our brief was to create a promotional poster for the World Premiere of the Emirati short film - A Tree in the Sea, which attained official selection status at the 2015 Miami International Film Festival.

Solution:

We took our inspiration for the posters from the story, which is about how two friends decided to create a man-made coral reef so that they could create a new world under the sea. We wanted to have a very graphic look and not just use images from the film to create the intrigue. We used different materials like charcoal, ink, pencil and water colour to create the illustrations that embodied a tree in the sea.

 

Results:

The three posters really stood out because they are very different to traditional movie posters. They are being used in Miami to promote the films during the festival as well as being shared across social media and movie sites like IMDB. G&Co are the producers behind the Emirati short film - A Tree in the Sea.
