Physical Computing
Interactive Device to Replicate Musical Drum
Objective is to design an interaction that could be used instead of keyboard. Initially we were asked to come up with a couple of ideas that can be used as an input to CPU instead of conventional methods like keyboard and mouse.

The Process
We started by collecting drum set sounds that could be used onthe cups. We identified input points (alphabets) that could be used for thesound. The following alphabets were used as input for the drum set sounds as inputM, J, K, P (on trial and error basis). We used a thermocol sheet to confine theentire assembly into one unit. Wires were used to solder the IC and the cups.Coins were used as contact points for the cups.  Hence there are 2 units now one is the cupwhich is connected to the IC and the other one is the drum stick which is againconnected to the IC. When the stick comes on contact with the cup (i.e touchesthe coin) the circuit is completed and the corresponding sound is generated.  Flash code (AS2) was used to playthe sounds from the CPU.
