2012 - Highgate Park

Model: Alicia Guseva

London is gorgeous when the sun is out, especially in the late summer.  Alicia was a joy to photograph with, coming with many years of experience and ideas of her own.
For years, I shot street photography throughout London.  Loved it.  But the great thing about shooting with a model is that you've got someone who is very patient while you try different ideas and different angles.
One of the biggest challenges of shooting in the park was the uneven light coming through the trees.  I hadn’t packed an external flash or a reflector, so I had to make due finding even light
This shot always cracks me up, because I remember balancing on the bench, trying to get a shot looking down from above and almost losing my balance... more than once.  How Alicia managed to keep a straight face is beyond me.
With every shoot, I usually find one shot which stands out.  Invariably, the eyes are in perfect focus, and the rest of the composition plays in such a way that your attention is drawn back to them.
I think my new motto in life is going to be, if it's not fun, don't do it.  Photos come out so much better when you're having fun.

2012 - Highgate Park

A lovely shoot in the Highgate Park - it was one of the last summer days of London back in 2012, and my first solo shoot in a park.
