Through Sound Analysis: Creating Design

Waveform of the processed image
This piece of work was created for the back (side B) of the Broadsheet design, as part of our Graphic Communications course. The above design will be used within the design.

I originally planned to create an oscilloscope using a cathode ray tube television, but after the death of four tvs and an electric shock, I decided to 'file' away this project idea and come back to it once I have a better understanding of the cathode ray tubes.
Instead the project on display is the second phase of the overall project plan. Instead of using feedback from the tv as I originally planned, ironically I had taken a photo of the inside of the dead tv (shown below).
I wanted to create a type of distortion by processing an image through software, then putting the outcome through another type of software and then repeating the process six times.
The software I first used was Photosounder. Photosounder is the first audio editor/synthesizer to have an entirely image-based approach to sound creation. The second piece of software I used was iZotope RX4. iZotope is for audio repair and enhancement, fixing common audio problems like noises, distortions, and inconsistent recordings. It has the benefit in my case of spectrum analysis, which is a visual representation of audio.
The video below shows the method I used for this process.
The end outcome would show a waveform of an image.  'What the below image sounds like, visually.'
