It is not everyday where one walks into a space and feels sheer enthusiam for creation of designs that will change the world. To me, SUTD is a place where great ideas are born every day. Thus, this extension building for SUTD is designed to welcome the public into our world - where every individual is constantly seeking new methods to better the lives of others.

Performance Space | 1:50 Model

An internal cut was made for views from upper floors down to the performance space. SUTD has a lively culture of bands and performances are a common sight. These are softer passions we chase aside of the hard engineering projects we undertake.

Facade | 1:50 Model

Triangluar panels of glass supported by mullions make up the facade. Transparent glass is used to attract guests from the neighbouring buildings as they see bustling activity. Frosted glass is used for shielding the rooftop garden, where students would gather to test their products such as electric skateboards and aerial drones.

Circulation | 1:50 Model

Following the LUSH 2.0 scheme, greenery that covers the area of the building's footprint is placed strategically to maximise sunlight received. Circulation stairways cascade along the edge of the facade to show constant human activity.

1:200 Model

Main entrance lobby | 1:200

A large void from the floor to the ceiling is designed for a grand, welcoming main entrance lobby. Standing here and looking up, one would be able to peer into the galleries on level 2, people attending design workshops on level 3, and students playing with their very own products.
