The concept for this project was based around the extremity of the inner city life of Johannesburg. The constant going ons within the street, taxis, informal traders and to create almost a kind of utopia within the building where one would not feel the stresses related to city living but rather a getaway/ an escape from that.
The green belt or green buffer around the building created this threshold between the city and provided an escape to a certain extent. The green belt would shield the users from noise, excessive light, pollution(to an extent) and create a tranquil landscape where one could relax and be stress free.
Section through the building. Ground floor is a commercial, first floor is office space, second and third residential with a rooftop garden. There are also two underground parking floors.
