PLAY!
Participatory Learning and You!
PLAY! (Participatory Learning & You) is a participatory learning platform designed to be used by school teachers and their students to aid in the learning process. It is being developed by University of Southern California's Annenberg Innovation Lab.

When they hired me, the theory behind the concept was worked out, but they did not have a usable interface or an visual identity for the platform. I created the "tile" as the basic element on the homepage and translated the theories into a tangible interface that is visually inspiring.
The platform contains an authoring system to create and share knowledge through a combination of various media elements. Users are encouraged to use templates to design challenges that can then be published and circulated to other readers within the network. Challenges have multiple points of participation for a reader - he/she is invited to share opinions on a pointed question relating to the challenge and "your turn" tiles invite readers to participate in activities involving creating photo collages, video snippets or essays to share their points of view.

The screenshots seen here are from the second iteration of the design that is currently in development.
