Project type:      Study project
Institution:          Aalborg University, The faculty of Engineering and Science,  Architecture and Design
Theme:                Tectonic Design & Nordic Architecture
Work method:   Group work
This project is about creating a new museum building at Fyrkat, a site that includes Monument, Long house, and Viking Centre, where people can see how the Vikings lived. The new museum building is to be the connection between the Monument and the Viking Centre. The two slender building volumes emphasize the direction of these attractions. One volume is placed in a diagonal over the other to emphasize the direction towards the landscape and in the other direction towards the Viking center. By raising the volume it naturally creates a view point from where it is possible to get an overview of the surrounding landscape.
