Week #45 / 52 – Japanese Crests, Faux 2D

What is this project about?
I have decided to work more on texturing and colors while I still learn to use Cinema 4D. So this week, I created a series of Japanese Crests. I have long admired their geometric beauty and their deceiving simplicity

A lot of the work below is done using simple tools in Cinema 4D, mainly the cloner tool. However, getting the rendering right with Sketch and Toon (to draw outlines) turned out to require fine tuning, like excluding specific edges to prevent them to be rendered.

The patterns used in the background are from subtlepatterns.com or the Adobe Creative Cloud market assets.
