In 2009, Italian fashion house Fendi launched an ongoing program
of collaboration with designers to emphasize approaches to production that blend the traditional and the experimental

In 2012 Fendi invited Studio Formafantasma to develop Craftica, a new body of work exploring leathercraft
in conversation with other hand-worked, natural materials.
Craftica is a visual and tactile investigation into leather driven by the symbolic connotations of leather;
a material that, more than any other, represents the complex relationship between humans and nature.
The installation offers a holistic view on leather as a material.

Craftica as an installation has been initially presented in Design Miami/Basel 2012, together with
a collection of 24 handmade drawings i developed as a homage to leather.

Every drawing is painted on parchment (a strong paper obtained by a complex processing of hairless goat skin) using coffee as paint, to portray the many uses of leather throughout history:
from drums to old fashioned soccer balls, from leather chairs to the sex swing.

The drawings are part of Craftica by Formafantasma, exhibited in many museums,
galleries and exhibitions worldwide.

Collection of 24 drawings,
coffee and pencil on goat parchment,
H25 x W32 cm
