Biography
Asif Jamal was born in Ballia, U.P. India. Jamal has participated in many national and international contests, including the Allahabad Museum Allahabad (Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Government of India); Ram Chhatpar Sand Sculpture, INDIA; Paryawaran Nideshalay (Government. Of Uttar Pradesh, lucknow India; M.A.D (CNN, CARTOON NETWORK, POGP, HBO) A Time Warner Company Mumbai INDIA; 5th Cyprus International Cartoon Contest, International Banyan Workshop Berlin, Germany. Jamal was Assistant on Documentary Movie ZWEIHUND GMBH Company; Jonas Meier, Director, Switzerland, and participated in the National Artist Workshop "SAMHITA" in New Delhi.
Description
Jamal’s photography is a celebration of the hopeful and cheerful aspects of human life. Jamal uses photography as a means of creative self-expression. Jamal looks for the light within the shadows, uncovering stories that are not at first obvious, and seeking the uncommon from within the common. Jamal photographs people in their environments because he is curious of the stories that lay beyond their eyes. Recently, Jamal began documenting street life.
Communication Objective
For Life of Street, Jamal chose black and white because it creates more depth and emotional evocation for the photograph. Dense emotions are held in values of black and white, which then lends to more poignant, beautiful, and impactful imagery.
