Hilroy – &thinsp
A website that displays music and connects fans. This is a conceptual team project for a fictional client.
Hilroy is a singer-songwriter and record producer in Montreal. He is part of a new generation of artists that uses social media to it’s fullest to promote their music. His new single, &thinsp, blends funk, soul music and modern pop.
To promote his new single, we were asked to design specific elements within a limited timeframe. One of these elements was a website where visitors could listen to the song and information on where to get it. Because of my experience with HTML and CSS, we decided that I’d handle the website.
I asked myself what functions could the website have besides an audio player. I imagined three kinds of users: the newcomer seeking information about the artist and music, the fan interested in new music, tour dates and the artist's social media presence, and the music industry professional eager to know if the artist is signed and to what label.
What I created is a website with a minimal responsive design for easy navigation. When you load the website, it presents you with a SoundCloud player. Scrolling down reveals details about tour dates and icons linking to various social media platforms. All the information needed.
Working with this team was great. They were reliable, communication flowed smoothly and there was a positive atmosphere. I learned that the simplest solution is often the best solution.
