With this website, I challenged myself to create something beautiful. I truly believe that big things are coming for this band, so I wanted to make Aukland a website they could be proud of. Something familiar for their fans, and also memorable and eye-catching for agents looking to sign the next big thing.

 

Making the website responsive was an absolute must, so I designed it with a mobile-first approach using Zurb Foundation. I used WordPress as a CMS for the back-end to allow the band to easily update and maintain the site in the future.

I was given full-reign by the band to do whatever I wanted to with the website. Having seen my previous work, the band trusted me to create something awesome for them.

My process began by first figuring out the band's needs for the website. What sort of content will there be? Who is their audience? What are other bands that they look up to doing with their websites?

Most of the work on the website was done during my Winter exams at University. As such, I didn't always have my sketchbook with me. If an idea struck, I'd sketch it down wherever I could - a notebook, some scrap paper, or even a whiteboard.

 

Around the same time, Aukland was announced as headliners for the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour, and wanted to have their new website live before the first show. After countless late/sleepless nights, I managed to complete work on the site and have it up and running just as the band began the first leg of the tour.
