Decorating christmas trees, what can go wrong?

Anyone with a pet or child knows the answer to THAT one.
♫ ...Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,
Brown paper packages tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favourite things... ♫

Now that the paper-wrapped baked gifts have found their homes I can post these up.

The Breslau Stollens have to be made and packed away a good few weeks in advance and the children loved helping out. Keeping the tags clean of flour and dough while drawing was.. Interesting!

Although now I think about it it would have added another depth, as it were. I'm unsure if the recipient's would have thanked me for that!

On the last day of school before the Christmas Holidays, the children took in a pack of almond crescents for their teachers. This was a last minute decision, normally we're not organised for such things. It hadn't occurred to me until a friend mentioned it, teachers enjoy the odd Christmas treat they receive from their students.

During that early morning rush of book-bags, coats and shoes, The Boy was handed a pack to give to his teacher. He asked why the label didn't have a drawing on it like the rest and I, midway through brushing my teeth, motioned to a pen and waved a new label at him. He took both and disappeared until we were leaving, proudly holding his pack with the new label on it. He'd carefully drawn himself, his teacher and 'written' a message.

I should have taken a picture but there was such a rush! It was beautiful. More poignant than anything I could've done. This is what my old University teacher fondly referred to as a 'Happy Mistake’! May there be many more of them.
