A fonte Cirth Erebor foi elaborada tendo como referência as runas do alfabeto dos anões da trilogia d'O Senhor dos Anéis, de J. R. R. Tolkien. A principal referência foi a cripta de Balin, que aparece no primeiro filme da trilogia e em ilustrações contidas no livro. Suas características principais são o formato bastante geometrizado e quase ausência de curvas acentuadas e sem contrastes grosso-fino. Foi elaborada apenas caixa alta nesse projeto.
The Cirth Erebor font was made inspired by the dwarves' runic alphabet from the fantasy trilogy The Lord of the Rings, by J. R. R. Tolkien. The main reference was Balin's tomb, which appears in the first movie from the trilogy, as well as the artworks in the books. Its main traits are the geometrized shape of the letters, and the absence of marked curves or thick-thin constrasts. In this project only the uppercase was made.
