Sprouts! Children's Daycare Center

Sprouts Children’s Daycare Center was named and conceptualized by Carolina Rago. The center was created for children ages 3–7, with open glass walls and doorways, potted plants by all the windows, and a light color scheme to nurture creativity and openness in learning. The center emphasizes sunlight and envirnmental friendliness, with a garden outside so the children can learn from a  young age how to take care of their planet.
The exteriors of the building include a vestibule with a large and small door to make children feel welcome when entering the center. The walls of the classrooms facing the courtyard are glass to let in sunlight and create an open learning environment.
The outer edge of the building is a long hallway connecting all of the classrooms and offices, lined with large windows. Each window has its own planter. When children are accepted, they receive seeds, which they are encouraged to plant in one of these on their first day, marking the outside of the planter with their handprint.
Classrooms have plant-like decals on the wall where children can measure themselves each year. The doors and the wall facing the courtyard are glass to encourage an open learning environment. Natural light is the perdominant light source, but small sconces with natural colored lights are provided for a sunny day when there’s no sun outside.
When children are accepted, their parents receive an informational package with a welcoming letter, business cards, and starting seeds for their children to plant on their first day.
