Above is a work in progress for Musician Somatix who contacted me to create unique Artwork for his Ep release.

 

This Artwork was inspired by the work of Photographer Susan Derges. Using the method of Water Photograms (Watergrams) that featured in her V&A Exhibition - Shadow Catchers: Camera-less Photography.

 

I had taken her technique but instead made the water ripple using sound, more specifically the tracks that Somatix had provided for inspiration. Using a large speaker and a tray of water, I distorted the water surface to vibrate along to the rhythm. The resulting photos once developed are completely random and unique.

Impossible to recreate and impossible to plan, this was the beauty for each photogram.

 

This technique is also known as Cymatics.

 

Shown below are Water Photograms (Watergrams) of each song that will feature on the EP.

 

The Artwork will be completed with typography, once the content has been finalised by Somatix.
