Lucifer Rising
A magazine about visual underground culture
I wanted to create a magazine that I myself would be interested in, as well as looking at what was missing in store shelves. I chose working on a magazine about visual underground culture, a subject I had somewhat extensive knowledge about. So when I was to curate the content I even approached some of the people whom I had been inspired by for years. Alot of time went to sending emails and gathering material, finding fitting pictures in high enough resolution or trying to get an interview with a designer/artist. In retrospect I could have been much more experimental with the design. But this was my first time making a magazine, so I had a hard enough time concentrating on just getting every piece of the puzzle together. The name Lucifer Rising is borrowed from a old movie by Kenneth Anger, featuring some strong visual asthetics that made an impression on many of the peoople whom you could call "underground". This in addition to a quote from a a currator in a book from Bjarne Melgaard made me convinced that the name would be soothing.

This magazine is dedicated to visual underground culture everywhere.
