REDNECK (pescoço vermelho) é uma gíria americana usada para agricultores brancos do sul dos Estados Unidos, o termo surgiu pela primeira vez em 1891 na cidade de Mississippi por um jornal local. São conhecidos pelo seu amor a caça e armas, veículos personalizados com rodas gigantes chamados Monster Truck, e pelos RedNeck Games, uma espécie de “Jogos Olímpicos” que inclusive surgiu em 96 no mesmo ano das Olimpíadas de Atlanta.
REDNECK is an American slang term for white farmers in the Southern United States, the term first appeared in 1891 in the town of Mississippi by a local newspaper. Are known for their love for hunting and guns, custom vehicles with giant wheels called Monster Truck, and the Redneck Games, a sort of "Olympics" which even appeared in 96 the same year the Olympics in Atlanta.

O primeiro RedNeck Games foi hostilizado pela mídia por ser criado na mesma época dos jogos olímpicos, esperava-se 500 pessoas para um local de 2.000 habitantes no entanto os jogos renderam mais de 5.000 pessoas, e assim tornou-se um hit instantâneo. Estima-se na última década mais de 95 mil pessoas participaram dos jogos, o relacionamento com a mídia mudou e hoje redes como NBC, BBC, FOX, MTV cobrem o evento, grande parte da arrecadação é doado para instituições de caridade locais.
The first Redneck Games was harassed by the media to be created at the same time the Olympic Games, it was expected 500 people to a place of 2,000 inhabitants however the games generated more than 5,000 people, and thus became an instant hit. It is estimated in the last decade more than 95 000 people attended the games, the relationship with the media has changed and today networks such as NBC, BBC, FOX, MTV covering the event, much of the revenue is donated to local charities.
