Many illustrators are creating works of great detail, which function as works of art in print, through an overhead view of a large panoramic scene. There are also digital versions that show a very detailed scene, comprising of areas of sub-interest or small narrative moments, but that work as a whole composition. These images work as a 'whole' but also reward further looking or visual exploring. I created a maximalist centrefold of a utopia as my final project in an illustration course. The medium is black ink on paper.
I also tried digitally colouring it to add a fun element to the illustration.
