Dressed in a costume made out of colourful textile strips, Jarramplas represents a cattle thief. He comes out to the streets at the end of January. To punish him the village population throws him vegetables until his surrender.

Winter 2013 / 2014

Feeding trails from the funny looking prehistoric Tribolites. Penha Garcia.

We take a short walk through to the top of the small village castle and down to the valley.

The network of typical houses and watermills as been recovered and now works as a museum showing us the path from raw wheat to baked bread. Penha Garcia.

Here people used to come to find work for the day, business were made, boats would arrive and kings lived and ruled in the surrounding palaces.One of the biggest plazas in europe it was rebuilt after being completely wiped out by the 1755 earthquake.
