Irish Stamps
Stamps i was commissioned to do for the year of craft
I was commissioned to do the photography on 5 new Irish stamps.
An Post issued five stamps to celebrate Year of Craft 2011.
Crafts have been essential for many decades in developing Ireland's creative and economic growth. The Year of Craft will focus domestic and international attention on Ireland's craft makers, and raise the profile of craft designers, promoters and collectors of exquisite craftware produced in Ireland. It will create a strong platform for the craft industry in the 21st century.
This set of stamps feature five outstanding contemporary craft makers. Deirdre McLoughlin, from Dublin, uses ceramics in her work, while Róisín de Buitléar, also from Dublin, works with glass. Inga Reed makes jewellery in Co Kilkenny and Dr Helen McAllister works with embroidered textiles in Dublin. The fifth craft worker is Liam Flynn, from Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick, an outstanding wood turner.
The stamps and the first day cover were designed by Ger Garland and photography was by Mike O'Toole
