THE OBSERVATORY
This project won a Digital Tutors May 2014 Challenge to build a low-poly game set using techniques such as reusing geometry, textures and creating decals.
I love games about exploration, but at the same time, I didn’t have time to create a vast, open environment. The observatory tower was meant to hold a promise of seeing far away by interacting with the telescope stationed there.
This project was designed very on-the-go. I made just a quick sketch and then went straight to modelling, light-testing etc., adjusting my idea to what I could do in the time schedule that would evoke the atmosphere I wanted.
Since the building has many repetitive elements, the scene (excluding the sky backgroud) closed in 7984 Tris.
