Ebola Virus Informational Booklet
Textbooks Africa, 2014
Overview
This 8-page informational booklet was created to be shipped to West Africa, primarily Liberia, during the 2014 Ebola Outbreak. I was responsible for the visual design, illustrations, copy writing, research, and content creation.

I was given the parameters of 8.5" x 11" paper, folded, and some basic goals:
• Calm the fears surrounding quarantine
• Encourage the voluntary suspension of traditional burials, a factor in the virus' spread
• To be visually clear for children and adults with little-to-no education
• To be colorful, inviting, and friendly

I researched the Ebola virus, keeping track of sources. Images of Liberian textiles were inspiration for the background patterns and color palette.

To be sure of usability, I asked several people to provide feedback without reading labels, letting me know if anything was confusing, distracting, etc. My most valuable insight came from those who allowed me to watch them while they did their review. I also used simple label text when I felt it was needed, to ensure that the labels were helpful to users who struggle with reading.

Note: This project is currently being reviewed by a medical team and may be adjusted based on their input.
