RE:SET, by Nooka

My first adventure as Copy and Art Director (!) Print entry for One Show 2010 for Nooka.
Creative Direction: João Coutinho (Lowe Ativism)

About:

Nooka is a New York brand that became known for the unusual design of their watches. This year’s One Show asked us to come up with an idea that would also get the public to know the rest of their line of accessories.

The idea behind “Re:set” came from the fact that the first design of the watch was made in a napkin in a cafeteria. The brand creator, Matthew Waldman, was looking at a giant clock and asked himself: “Is there any different way to tell what time it is?”

Using sketches, I wanted to present Nooka not just as fashion, but as a statement. Mindstyle: creative accessories for creative people.

SPAM THIS CAUSE, for timeforclimatejustice.org

The brief:
In 2010, a meeting regarding environmental issues were to be taking place in Copenhagen. The website timeforclimatejustice.org was created to pressure world leaders to make a change, and it wanted a new way to promote itself and environmental activism.

The idea:
Creating a print ad that disclosed all the official e-mails of the world leaders, allowing people to "spam" them with direct e-mails through the website.

SO FRESH, a viral video for Campofrio Ham

The real purpose of this idea was getting a pig on tape while it destroys an entire kitchen and showing the result in the commercial breaks of Grey’s Anatomy - legitimated by the undeniable freshness of Campofrio’s ham, of course. This is just the storyboard.
"Mom, the ham escaped again!"
Signature: “Campofrio ham. It’s so fresh you better ask for it sliced”.
PAPA-HÓSTIAS: Guerrilla Stunt for Torke

May 10th 2010: Pope Benedict XVI came to Portugal and, with him, thousands of followers, journalists and critics. With all heads turned to what was about to happen in Fátima, Portugal's sacred sanctuary, Torke, a guerrilla specialized agency, saw the Pope's visit as a great opportunity to promote their skills.

Therefore, we created a communion wafer-eating contest, called...

The title only works in portuguese, but I'll try to explain it.
"PAPA" means Pope, but it also means "eating" in a very informal way. "HÓSTIAS" is the sacred wafer that is given by the priests to followers at mass. Altogether, the expression "PAPA-HÓSTIAS" refers to someone that is extremely catholic, in a somewhat negative sense.

As a teaser, journalists were sent a communion wafer with the words "Take this and eat".
In the back, there was only the date of the Pope's visit.

The so-called "mini-game" was actually a very, very stupid version of PacMan wearing the Pope's hat.
We held hi-scores.
The logos. "Landmine" was a personal reference for me and Diogo Alves, the Art Director of the project. He's currently working as a junior AD on Kolle Rebbe, in Germany.
FISH EYE, by Lomo
What if the arab revolution in Tahrir Square had been photographed by a Lomo and reported by Lady Gaga?

That's the motto behind FISH EYE, Lomo's Worldwide Fanzine: the first photojournalism project inspired by Lomo Addicts all over the world.

Existing online, on paper and on iPad, this monthly premium magazine uses the same principles of street amateur photojournalism to gather Lomo photos about any relevant event - and invites out-of-the-box celebrities to comment it and (re)write the news. Photo credits go to the authors and proud owners of a Lomo Camera would get a way to see their photos shown all over the world.

Tagline:
Lomo. Reality deserves a new perspective.

WORK AGAINST POVERTY, by Amnesty International
The problem: I want to be a volunteer, but I'm not willing to go so far and Amnesty International doesn't make good use of what I can do best.

Yet, someone does.

My ideia is to create a website for hiring services for Amnesty International. Anybody can register as a volunteer to do what he/she does best, since plumbing to legal counseling. Through the website, anyone can "hire" these volunteers to do a specific job, and whatever they earn goes directly to Amnesty International.
