School desk and standing support
„According to the World Bank, educating all children worldwide will requirethe construction of 10 million new classrooms in more than 100 countries by2015. At the same time, millions of existing classrooms are in serious need ofrepair and refurbishment.”

My design is a set of furniture (containing a special operative chair – amobile standing support and a desk) mainly for the schools of the HungarianGypsy minority because I think preparing this minority for conformity andintegration is one of the hottest issues in Hunga
rian education.
During my work I took into consideration (of course beyond the generalweaknesses of average school furniture) every special problem of this chosenminority.

The form of the chair allows the moving for the student, so they canconcentrate on the lesson for much longer time. The lack of moving andexcercise is a common problem in most schools but it’s even more important inthis case.
One of the most important problems is that in the culture of this minorityprivate property isn’t so significant, as in Europe. So I created a kind offurniture which can be their own of every single student. Everybody has a chairand table with different height, a certain colour and on every chair there is asmall case for articles for personal use.
every child has their own case
and they can choose a colour
The mechanics of the chair and table is based on the mechanics of a hoover’spipe. The height can be modified if you grab the inner tube and the plasticpart of the outer one, but can’t be if you grip simply the two pipes (and notthe plastic safety-catch).

To change the height of the chair or the table, you need the keys (forexample) of the classroom, so only the teacher can do this. In this way we canavoid accidents.
