Rock Process Pics"Lord of the Flies"-DCPA/DCTC- Fall'14

These are the large rocks that made up the set for "Lord of the Flies" at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts" (Denver Center Theatre Company). We carved large rock shapes out of foam, coated them with CP9 and cheese cloth, applied acroflex for texture, and then painted them with a base coat, some washes and spattering. We also had clear plastic that we painted and coated with texture that went over the light boxes along the bottom of all the rock to create a lava effect when the  lights in the lightboxes were lit. The lava would only appear when the lights were lit up, so the lightboxes looked like rock when the lightboxes were unlit.
