Final Piece 3 - Framed Cyanotype

Final Piece 3 - Framed Cyanotype
For this final Piece I haven't got many process photo's. I created the Cyanotypes in the exam so all the process photo of me making the cyanotype is in there. But, I will be covering what I did to make it fit into the frame.

I went to quite a few shops to try and find a frame, however, none of them was what I was looking for. I wanted an old style frame and most if not the only ones I could find were black minimalist frames. So, instead of ordering one online I decided to go to some charity shops! At the first shop I went to I found this frame and I loved it. Originally I wanted to put the image which I showed in my Final Piece 2 in this one but lucky I managed to get another frame for that one!

My original plan for this frame was to get fake moss and use a glue gun to stick it on, I ended up ordering around 300g of fake moss but unfortunately when it came it easily fell apart and wasn't easy to use, which is unfortunate. In the end I didn't use it but thankfully the frame was wooden so I stuck with it! I love the old look of the frame and the golden rim it had. Even though the frame is slightly damaged on the gold section I think it adds to the artwork and I think it looks better with those imperfections!

Now onto the image itself. I created 3 cyanotypes and I asked multiple people which one they thing is the best and all of them said  this one. They said that they like the detail on the top left flower and how nice the leaves look so I went with it! Unfortunately to make it fit in the frame I had to use a guillotine to cut the art down so that it could fit in the frame. I used a ruler and measured how large the piece of wood is at the very back of the frame which holds the art in place so that I could get a good idea of how much to cut the cyanotype down. I put small marks on the paper using a pencil on either side of the photo and using those as guidelines cut the image. While cutting I had to be careful that I not cut the plant patterns on the page, which I almost did!

Finally after it was cut properly I put it in the frame and underneath is the outcome! I love how it looks and I oddly think that the shade of blue on the Cyanotype goes really well with the shade of the brown on the frame, and with the gold portion.
