Arkalalah Logo Design 2024

For the Arkalalah festival in Arkansas City, embracing the "Thriller" theme without overtly scary or Michael Jackson references required a creative approach that resonates with family-friendly fun. Inspired by the B-movie horror era of drive-in cinema, I developed a series of logos that capture the essence of retro excitement while maintaining a lighthearted tone suitable for all ages.
The first logo design channels classic B-movie aesthetics with a playful twist. Featuring an iconic screaming woman in black and white and a dynamic, hand-written type treatment with striking red lettering, this design evokes the thrill of vintage horror cinema without venturing into overly frightening territory.
The second logo design can appeal to a younger audience really well by incorporating whimsical monster-like letters, where the 'r's appear to chase each other, a dripping 't' subtly resembles a knife, and an 'e' with horns adds a touch of mischievous charm, infusing the logo with playful character that captures the festival's theme in a captivating manner.
In the third design, a sharp and almost metal-centric aesthetic emerges, drawing inspiration from music culture. The letters are intricately intertwined, evoking a sense of movement and energy, while a graveyard scene with clouds and a skull moon adds a nod to the spooky atmosphere associated with the festival's "Thriller" theme.
Each logo design explores different facets of the B-movie horror genre, from classic scream queens to playful monster motifs. The color treatments vary to offer versatility and adaptability for various festival applications, ensuring that the Arkalalah logos stand out on shirts and promotional materials while embodying the festive spirit of this unique celebration.
