Jesse Marsch (USA), former Leeds United (England), who was mentioned as the next coach of the Korean national soccer team, will be appointed as the head coach of the Canadian national team.

The Canadian Football Association announced on the 14th that it has appointed Marsh as the head coach of the Canadian national soccer team. Marsh's contract runs through the 2026 North-Central America World Cup. "It is a tremendous honor to take the helm of the Canadian national team in preparation for the World Cup at home," Marsh said through the Canadian Football Association.

Earlier, he was mentioned as a strong candidate for the next coach of the Korean national soccer team. However, the negotiations seem to have finally collapsed due to conflicting conditions in the process of discussing detailed contract details, including annual salary. The annual salary that the Korea Football Association offered to Marsh was around 2 million U.S. dollars before tax, but he reportedly wanted 2 million dollars after tax. Considering that more than 40 percent of tax will be levied due to his high annual salary, the amount that the association has to pay will soar to 3.5 million dollars every year if it accepts Marsh's request. The Canadian Football Association did not have enough financial resources either. The association recorded a surplus of 5.3 million dollars in 2021, but lost 6.3 million dollars in 2022.
