The Centripetal Team
Centripetal Networks was founded with one vision, to protect the Internet at the scale of the Internet. By bringing together a team of individuals with backgrounds firmly rooted in the defense and intelligence sectors from various government agencies as well as branches of the United States military, Centripetal has made it their mission to manufacture a complete solution in cyber defense. The Centripetal team is comprised of experts from Verizon, the Department of Homeland Security, the National Security Agency, the Department of Defense and many more prestigious organizations. Through their combined efforts, the Centripetal team was able to engineer the first real-time active network defense solution while continuously updating and improving their products to make a more effective system.
History
Centripetal Networks was founded in early 2009. The company’s founder, Steven Rogers, is a technologist, corporate leader and entrepreneur. Steven recognized that security is largely missing from the backbone of the Internet and that it would ultimately need to be incorporated into the Internet fabric. He then set out to assemble a team at Centripetal that set about addressing this problem by the use of scaled packet processing, for decision-making at Internet speed and scale.
Near the end of 2011, Centripetal Networks reached a major milestone in the development of the RuleGate® solution. The first RuleGate device was deployed through testing with a prominent global Internet Service Provider. For the first time, the RuleGate demonstrated 1 million rules, full-duplex, with throughput at 10 Gigabit/second line rate. The scale of this accomplishment was over one thousand times that of any other known technology. This achievement validated Centripetal’s vision of adding security to the network.
Since 2012, Centripetal developed several solutions for the U.S. Government, which prove the potential uses of the new technology. These projects include the Network Survivability, Recovery & Reconstitution (NS2R) program, which enables packet filtering devices to rapidly switch between large security policies, for the Department of Homeland Security.
In 2013, Centripetal Networks provided its first commercial products, which include the RG2010 and RG2100 RuleGate® appliances. These network devices operationalize millions of security rules at up to 10 Gigabit/second line rate. The RG2010 and RG2100 feature ultra-low latency and full network performance.
In 2014 Centripetal introduced an entirely new category for cyber-security solutions: Real-Time Active Network Defense. This enables enterprises to apply live threat intelligence directly to their network operations. Centripetal has partnered with industry leading threat intelligence providers to deliver a complete cyber defense solution. This solution is ideal for financial services firms, critical infrastructure providers, and large enterprises and government agencies.
