Making of my Altar - 20

This process was quite nerve-wracking for me as I have never worked with wood before. It was an option throughout my college years but it always felt quite daunting. Thankfully, with the help of my dad, I managed to create a fully operational altar piece.
We started off by measuring and cutting the boards that I would eventually be painting onto, we did this by following my mock up piece and double checking each measurement before cutting the wood.
Once we had the boards cut and sanded, we moved onto the frame pieces. The frame pieces will add an illusion of depth to the altar. As I was going to be spray painting each piece of wood, my dad said we would need to prime it before hand to ensure when it came to spray painting, each layer of paint would be smooth and even.
This process took around two days. On the first day we realised that we didn’t have enough wood for the boarders, which pushed us back by a few hours as this meant another trip to B&Q. Another factor was the paint primer, it took very long to dry. This was a little frustrating as I wanted to get on with everything, but I was thankful for it in the end as everything looked evenly coated and smooth.
