The purpose of this project is to create a set of visual assets for Johnson County Community College's Department of Music, Theater and Recording Arts. The selected show I was assigned to work on was the New Works Initiative, a selection of new short plays written by students.

The director for the production requested that the assets be honest, youthful and contemporary. The biggest challenge was to encapsulate the idea of a playwriting festival while not knowing what the selected plays would be. This left the project very open for interpretation. The director also requested multiple variations of the design to be used for posters, web assets, email headers and more.

I chose to create a layered vector illustration of a typewriter along with hand lettered writing for the poster. I used layer styles to fake a risograph print style in Photoshop, to give it a more DIY appearance.
