Joey Laine Joins the Seahawks' Front Office

In April 2024, experienced salary cap analyst Joey Laine joined the front office of the Seattle Seahawks as the team’s new vice president for football administration. Laine will replace Matt Thomas, who spent 11 years in the position. The responsibilities of the VP for football administration include managing the Seahawk’s contract negotiations and salary cap, among others.

With Laine joining the team, the Seahawks should benefit from his broad experience in NFL front office work, which has spanned nearly 20 years. Before coming to the Seahawks, Laine spent nine years with the New Orleans Saints, six years with the Chicago Bears, and one year with the Green Bay Packers. During most of this time he was involved in strategic planning, salary cap management, and contract negotiations.

The switch from Thomas to Laine is just one of the few offseason moves that amount to significant changes in the Seahawks front office. Other front office moves include head coach Mike Macdonald replacing Pete Carroll as executive vice president of football operations, and general manager John Schneider taking on additional responsibilities as president of football operations.
