I challenged myself with making a 360 video, and in it I reflected on my relationship with geographical borders and all other kinds of lines they built up in my head.
After I became more aware of myself in a status of an immigrant, the long rides on a bus from Petersburg to Helsinki, and then from Petersburg to Tallinn prompted me to consider another type of border. I touched on the line between animalness and humanness, the way beings of all kinds are affected by borders between humans, and the way this difference is transcended.
The 360 video format allows for a more immersive, interactive POV view of every scene through the eyes of each living creature. There is a symbol on every scene that you can see as if on a map looking upwards to the marks on the top of it. The symbols are taken from different real-life maps and feature distinctions for home, danger, environments, animals and countries.
The render is made with standard render in Cinema4D, and the shading of the objects with the Sketch and Toon texture. The textures are comprised of brush strokes in a shape of a fingerprint. I wanted the environment to appear touched, affected by humanity.
