I made this piece using Photoshop for Graphic Design I at Cowley College. The prompt was to choose an acclaimed graphic designer and compose a poster for an exhibition that appears as if they made it. I chose Paul Rand as my subject, and after researching his history as a Jewish-Russian immigrant in America, understood his influences in graphic design from all the places he lived. The poster focuses on Rand's emphasis on the abstract, using his typical simple shapes, asymmetry, & primary color scheme. His body is silhouetted behind much of the information, with only his glasses in real photograph form. This abstract depiction with much of the design masked in his silhouette makes it seem as if we are looking through his eyes as a window into his mind.
