Stay Awake to Stay Alive Campaign
The problem

Drowsy driving poses a significant threat on the road, resulting not only in loss of life and property damage but also driving up insurance costs for individuals and insurers.

Microsleep is a short burst of sleep lasting just a few seconds. These dangerous sleep episodes are a major risk factor for vehicle accidents and other errors.
They occur as the body's response to sleep deprivation.  A person cannot control microsleep episodes, and some people may even appear to be awake during them.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), drowsy-driving crashes:

•Occur most frequently between midnight and 6 a.m. or in the late afternoon
•Often involve a single driver with no passengers -frequently happen on rural roads or highways.
•Drowsy driving is implicated in 21% of all motor vehicle crashes resulting in death and 13% of crashes resulting in hospitalizations.
•Gen Z & Millennials (18-27 & 28-43) account for approximately 20% of drowsy driving crashes
