DDN-125 Glorious Grids

The glorious Grids assignment was a mid semester project, made to help students think outside of the box while constrained to an unconventional medium. Students were given a shape-bank, and three size-specific canvases. I chose a red fox, at a broad angle. The most challenging bit was the face, which was just slightly offset. The assignment required three iterations of the design, low, medium and high poly, each having a greater expectation of detail involved.
Thumbnails involved ruling out the specific size for the three canvases. Using an included shape bank, we sketched out the rough designs, trying to use only the given shapes from the bank.
The shapes from the bank could not be scaled or rotated. Color was the only variable available. Layering the shapes was allowed, and for my high poly design, I layered 162 different shapes to achieve the texture, shapes, highlights, and shadowing.
