Design Tech Lookbook

SUMMARY: My forth project is titled "Design Technology Lookbook", I utilized Adobe InDesign software to craft a comprehensive representation of my accomplishments; encapsulating projects 1, 2, and 3, as well as all the assignments I undertook during the spring of 2024 in GRFX-1413. The ultimate outcome took the form of a tangible book, featuring A4-sized pages and vibrant color printing. Within this visually captivating lookbook, I incorporated captivating visuals of my work alongside descriptive captions.

DESIGN SYSTEM:
*Size – The size of the image and font size are chosen to best suit the size of the lookbook, so that readers can grasp the essential content and illustrations.

*Color – The colors represent my own identity, using pastel pink tones as the theme colors of the lookbook.

*Contrast – While the background color of the cover page is bright and gentle pastel tones, the color tone of the text is warmer and darker, showing the contrast and details of the cover page.

*Alignment – Out-of-alignment elements stand out over aligned ones.

*Repetition – Repeating styles can suggest content is related.

*Proximity – Closely placed elements seem related.

*Whitespace – More space around elements draws the eye towards them. For the cover, I wanted to not have any white space showing so I created a background color that matched the glen plaid pattern, which was an important part of my intended look.

*Texture and Style – Richer textures stand out over flat ones. I aim for a formal and feminine look, so I prioritize italic fonts and capital letters without too many details.

*For the cover page.

*For the content.

GOAL: I want to create a physical product using Adobe InDesign software. This is an opportunity for me to learn and experience this software as well as experience how to create a product based on certain criteria. Adobe InDesign is also the main software in my final project in the spring 2024 semester, I combine the work I need to do and the work I want to experience into this project, the goal is to create a Lookbook product which is both personal (cover page) and meets learning requirements (content).

WORK IN PROCESS:

Step 1: Download the form and answer all required questions.

Step 2: Place all required file Ai, PSD and PDF.

Step 3: make the QR code for behance page of each project, then place both project file and QR code of each project to the template.

Step 4: Window=>Styles.
Change the Paragraph styles into the font I want.
(download some unique font on Adobe Fonts)

Step 5: I used Ai to create the pattern of cover page.
-Select Pen tool to make the glen plaid pattern, change the texture into Canvas or Rough pastel to have a better look, then I have the result like the first picture.
-Use Type tool to arrange the appropriate position and details, then use the Pen tool to make the top half of the heart shape.
-Then delete the text layer and save the final result as PDF file.

Step 6: Place the background to page 1 as cover page (InDesign), then use Type Tool and start designing. The second picture is my final look of the cover page.

Final step: Package file and print it out!

KNOWLEDGE GAINED: I aspire to showcase my unique style and leave my personal mark through this project. With the resources at hand, I have acquired the ability to explore and modify specific elements to align with my vision. The journey of crafting and designing the cover is immensely captivating, as it enhances my cognitive abilities by fostering creativity and enabling me to manifest my enthusiasm for the project.
