"Anthropocene Transmissions"

"K 6," "Trinity," and "Fat Man" were created as an explorastory series for an upcoming group show on nuclear energy issues. "Anthropocene Transmissions" will open at the Annex Gallery, in Highland Park MI starting May 4, 2024. K 6 was Oppenheimer's badge number at Los Alamos and this portrait was created looking at his badge picture. I found the image through an online project showing all the participants in the project. I just had to render those haunted eyes revealing the mind that wrestled with the consequences if his creation. That is the preserved observation tower at the site and the nuclear cloud is rendered after reference of the actual first explosion.

The creation subsumes its creator. I had this vision of the voice of the man as the mortal parallel to the word of God in an act of creation. Both display terrifying power and potential.
"Fat Man"
The miracle of creation becomes the nightmare of the bomb.
