Dystopian Fairytales
Introduction
Dystopian fairy tales is a part of my diploma project and it consists of five digitally painted illustrations.
This project has transmedia qualities as it’s distributed across different media – print and digital. Both versions directly relate to each other due to the use of Augmented Reality (AR).
This series of illustrations present a reinterpretation of well-known fairy tales in cyberpunk narrative and aesthetics.
AR animations
After drawing each illustration in Procreate, I've animated them using Adobe After Effects and created an AR scene in Adobe Aero. The animations are rather simple since my main focus was to create a more immersive and somewhat performative experience without making the animations too flashy or distracting.
Akin to telling a fairytale, interacting with Dystopian Fairytales allow the viewer to take him to a different reality at their own terms and pace, making each interaction unique.
