Radiolaria
In addition to sponges and silicas, radiolars are among the rock-forming organisms with opal skeletons. If their deposits are enriched en masse, they form siliceous biogenic sediments. Radiolariums occur in very large quantities in the seas and extract silicon dioxide from the water to build their skeletons.
