Green Garlic - Meal Planning App

For this project I had to create a proposal and mobile app prototype for a Grocery, Meals, or Recipe App to be funded by a Fortune 500 grocery retailer. I utilized the Persona as a UX/UI Research Method to help guide my design decisions and brand style.

I had to create a brand and a website while accomplishing the objectives:
- Use "offline", in-person group discussion as a brainstorming method.
- Create a Persona as a UX/UI design strategy.
- Use Figma to create a presentation (16:9 slide format).
- Use Figma for mobile app design, use basic prototyping when needed.
- Look at mobile app designs in a similar vertical or market space.
  Create a competitor analysis.
- Think and create. Think "offline." Create "online."
I made interdisciplinary connections while working on this project. From Two-Dimensional Art & Design, I had value in my mind while working on this project. My color palette consists of a range of value. The pale green and yellow are my light colors, the orange and green are my mid-range colors, and the deep, dark green is my dark color. I also had to make sure that the background and the photos/text on top of them had a high contrast from light and dark so that the elements in the foreground could be seen easily. I used knowledge from my Word & Image course to create a logo that made sense for my brand "green garlic". I incorporated a simple and legible vector illustration of a garlic and used the color green to create a logo that stayed true to its name. I also used a typeface that showed the mood of my brand and my app which was friendly, fresh, and inviting. I have also used my knowledge from Typographic Design. While working on this project, I set different typefaces for a header, a subhead, and body copy. I had to think about the hierarchy in text to have the headers pop to grab the viewer's attention while still having the body copy legible. The hierarchy in the typography is distinguished through the size, color, and typeface choice. I had to research competitors of my app to make my app more unique and solves my personas problems better than my competitors.

In my Interface Design class, I learned about personas in for my "Moonlit Dragon Restaurant" app. In order to create an app for a specific audience, I have to know what their frustrations and needs are to make their lives a bit easier. For this project, I used a persona to understand the audience of my app and to figure out a solution to their problems. It made it easier for me to figure out how the app should present itself in terms of style and meals and what aspects are/aren't needed for my persona since they worry about some aspects more than others.
