My second series Chevron Island, Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, 29/04/11, exploresanother incarnation of the evolutionary phenomenon of architecture. The islandwas originally a surf shack town due to its proximity to Surfers Paradise. Butgradually the ‘glitzy’ Surfers is encroaching on neighbouring Chevorn Island. As an outsider I could see a clear distinction between the old and the newarchitecture on the island and the divide between suburbia in its various formsof social construct. The series presents a vast array of architecture with nodifferentiation between old world and new world, instead leaving it for viewersto create distinctions through their own comparisons.  The style of shooting and presentationfor this series has moved more towards the 70s American School of photography, pioneered by Ed Ruscha and Robert Rooney, but this school was in turninfluenced by the Dusseldorf school and ][so still works within the threeseries.  I cropped each image to 5x 7 dimensions to reference their German heritage, as most artists from thisschool shoot large format. Ideally this series would be presented with eachprint pinned end to end to form one long line across the gallery wall.
