To coincide with Sky Sports’ new ‘white world’ look (launched at the same time), its flagship channel was to take on a new identity and a more modern look. The brief was to create a top of the hour headline sequence that would have a fresh, bright, modern and premium look, and contain as much live content as possible while also being a vehicle for headline footage.
Concept / Story Board
The concept behind the sequence plays on the idea that Sky Sports News HQ receives its content from numerous different sources which are all fed into a hub - the news room. It was important that the sequence showed a strong connection to social media and web based content as well as traditional VT footage. Therefore the sequence consists of a series of shots showing the build of a structure fed with (now here's the clever bit) actual live and up-to-date data. The camera moves and locks into a series of headline pieces (from 3-5) all triggered from the vision mixers desk. As the sequence progresses you eventually see that the build is in fact the Sky Sports News HQ logo.
