Illustrator Project 2: Emerging Tech Illustration
Assignment Instructions: "For this project, the vector illustration you create will live in the digital environment (i.e., websites, digital magazines, blogs). Typically, a digital illustration can be seen in its entirety without the need to scroll. For this reason, you will use horizontal formatting for the project."

Essentially, we had to research some articles that discussed concepts such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence. We had to find images that intrigued us, such as a person wearing VR goggles, and use that as an inspiration to craft our own piece.

This project also involved a planning process where we had to sketch out a few ideas before deciding on one.
Item 1: Thumbnail Planning Sketches
The invention that I chose to illustrate was #13: eyeglasses with a bionic component. This was partially inspired by the character of Simon Nelson-Cook in Nickelodeon sitcom Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, whose eyeglasses contained a similar component.
Item 2: Completed Project
My Experience: At this point, I felt much more confident with my Illustrator abilities, especially when it comes to projects that are purely geometric. It was what I would consider the first time that I succeeded at gradient effects, notably when it comes to the eyeglasses and background.

Furthermore, I applied a heavy grain effect to the "projection" (or hologram) of the bionic eye, to give the impression that all of its information is presented digitally.
