Generative Fill
Generative Fill is a new function to Adobe Photoshop. With the overabundance of AI usage in internet softwares, it makes sense that Photoshop would have this kind of feature.
Assignment Overview
The objective of this assignment is to explore the Generative Fill feature of Photoshop 2024. There are many AI services available, but this assignment will explore the feature embedded in Adobe CC and Adobe Photoshop. Keep in mind, the execution does not have to be perfect. This assignment is providing an opportunity to explore the feature.
The first image is the original download from Unsplash.com. The dimensions are 70 inches wide, it is zoomed out to 12.5% and the file size is over 100 mb. The second image is the new 5x7 inch canvas at 72 resolution. This image has the new generative file images added and zoomed in at 200%. The file size is around 530 kb.
Behind the Scenes
The lasso tool is used to create a space where the generated image will appear as a separate layer.
To access Generative Fill, create a closed shape with the Lasso tool. Go to the Edit tab in Photoshop and click Generative Fill. This box will appear where you can type any prompt you want and be given variations of your prompt. From there you can place your image into the space created with the Lasso Tool.
My assignment

These 8 layers are the images I chose to place on the background using Generative Fill. Since these were produced artificially, no copyright statement is needed except for the images I took from Unsplash and used as the background.
The 'generative' image is the final product for the assignment.
